Motivation

No engagement features

What is it?

Sometimes, users don't interact with a product as expected. It can be because of any of the issues listed on this website. For instance, users may not engage because the product requires too much work, it doesn't provide enough value, its user experience is subpar, it's not as good as some other product, or they just get busy with other things. Engagement features often cater to intrinsic motivations and can support autonomy and competence. Their absence can make the product feel less interactive and personal, reducing users' intrinsic motivation to engage with the product. Lack of engagement can have negative effects for both your business and users. Your business may experience reduced revenue, poor user retention, and difficulty in gathering feedback to improve the product. Users may miss out on the value that your product offers; just not in a way that they perceive as engaging enough.
