Efficiency

Inefficient mental model

What is it?

Mental models are representations of how things work that we have in our minds and help us make sense of new experiences. Typically, the mental model around which a product is built informs how users go about doing their work. Now, some products aren't built around a clear mental model, which is its own issue. But even if the product's mental models are clear or intuitive, they may result in an experience or outcomes that aren't optimal. Sometimes, promoting a different and innovative mental model can require a learning curve but unable great new value.
